About Me
Hi, I’m Joe, of Joe’s Cosmic Cookies and More! My mission statement is: “to educate the world about the universe through the magic of cookies!”
I love science: I have degrees in biology and atmospheric sciences, and I work as a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. In recent years, I’ve developed a passion for astronomy and astrobiology — studying life on other planets, moons, and exoplanets.
I also love baking, and cookies are the perfect shape for a planet: circular (well…technically they are cylindrical disks with a convex top) and they come in so many flavors! I’ve created cookies to represent each planet in the solar system, as well as the Sun and Pluto (sorry, Pluto is a dwarf planet).
In my mission statement, I use the word “magic.” Cookies are magical, but in a sense synonymous with science. For example, a cell phone today would seem like magic to cave people long ago. But also, the act of making cookies is magic — baking is a chemical reaction that transforms simple ingredients into something entirely new: a cookie!
It is my hope that while enjoying my cookies, you also learn something new about our truly wondrous universe.
